Richard Kent

Richard (Rik)'s Story In loving memory of Richard (Rik) Kent - 1941-2016. Rik Kent was born on September 7th, 1941, in Meadville PA to Robert and Martha Kent. He died on April 1st, 2016. He had resided in Trophy Club TX since 1988. Rik graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Pan Sophic Fraternity. He married Diane Gottlieb, also from Meadville, and they had two sons, Greg and Danny. After living in Pennsylvania and Missouri, he found his way to Texas. There he enjoyed a long career and business partnership in the exhibit industry; he was also a professional drag boat racer and custom painter of race boats, cars and motorcycles. Rik and Diane eventually ended their marriage, amicably, and remained close friends. He married Marilee Powers from McKinney, TX in 1987. Together these five Kents formed a family bond that continues to this day. Greg lives in Phoenix, and Danny lives in Austin with his wife, Debbie and their two daughters Elizabeth and Emily. Diane lives in Dallas. In addition to his wife and sons, Rik is also survived by his brother Bob, sister-in-law, Anne "Corky", nieces Marian and Jennifer and cousins Linda & Al. A fraternity brother summed it up like this. "He was generous to a fault, kind, funny, extremely talented, adventuresome, and totally loyal." A fitting description of this man we love. In keeping with his personality, we decided not to have a formal funeral service, but instead an informal gathering of friends, family and BBQ. If anyone cares to make a donation in his memory, the Alzheimer's Association is a fitting choice, or the Pan Sophic Scholarship Fund at Grove City College.
