MEADVILLE — Melvin James (Jim) Kebert, 68, of 15071 Brown Hill Road, Meadville, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Geneva, the son of the late Melvin K. and Mabel Jane Brown Kebert. On July 21, 1979, he married Carol Lee Beatty.

Jim graduated from Meadville Area Senior High School in 1960. He was an active farmer for most of his life; most recently he had been employed by R.D. Werner in Greenville before retiring in 2001.

His interests included hunting, fishing, watching a good football game, and talking politics with his Aunt Virginia.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Kebert of Meadville; one stepdaughter, Barbara Smock of Meadville; two stepsons, Michael Smock and his wife, Janice, of Linesville and James Smock of Meadville; one brother, Richard Kebert and his wife, Dawn, of Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Hough of Watson Run Church officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
