Comments:

I grew up in The Hague, The Netherlands, and got an AFS scholarship after graduating from Sacré Coeur Highschool. Before getting married in 1965 (the roaring sixtees) I worked at the American Embassy and in the health sector. We have 3 daughters and 11 grandchildren. Moved to Son en Breugel in 1974 and have lived there since. For many years I joined local as well as national committees. I made my debut in writing with 'Women of glass' in 1985. You'll find a summary of my work on my website. I studied cultural sciences at the Open University and started my company AP&D in 1988 (continued by my oldest daughter in 2002). In 1991 I founded the Talent Foundation named after my father and based on the parabel of the talents. This fund supports underpriviliged youngsters in developing their talents, worldwide. . In 2006 a book about the life of my father was published 'Peter van Tilburg, a merchant in The Hague'.
I am onesided totally deaf and hearing impaired on the other side since a braintumor was removed in 1998. It might lead to a CI (cochleair implant) within due time.
I am an author, poet, storyteller, write songs and received a Royal Decoration from Queen Beatrix in 2002. But above all I am a happy and grateful woman who will never forget the wonderful year with you at MHS.

Happy birthday Kathy!
Go with the flow
but never forget
your own personality.
Make up your mind
your thoughts are worthwhile
you are you, live your life
well and kind.

Happy birthday Dave!
Give a smile
in a little while
someone else smiles with you.
And guess what
these smiles will do:
they will make your whole world smile!

Happy birthday Sandy!
Could I have wings toe cover and protect you
they’d also give a balance in our flight,
they’d carry us through weather wind and darkness
and to the light.

Long ago we were in highschool
you were loved and tall
very tall, you were a hero
playing basket ball.
I don’t know what life did
give you, and don’t know
what lies ahead.
But I know that everything is
worthwhile what was done or said.
Happy birthday John!

Happy birthday Sandy!
I wish you Good Day dreams:
A swarm of birds shape
my wandering thoughts.
Sliding seagulls pass by the glass
invite me for a journey to sea.
I close my eyes and they take me along.

I love the name of your hometown: Surprise!

Words I give you words
to tell your own story
to whisper or shout
and crying out loud
to celebrate life without worries.

Happy birthday Karen!
Saw your picture on the website
don’t know if we met.
But I do know that we both were
highschool students once and that
we share memories and classmates
once when we were young.
Wish you many years ahead
in good health and with ‘schwung’!

Happy birthday Jim! Hope this message will find you well and healthy. As promised to all my classmates, this year I send everyone a little poem on their birthday. Here is yours.
Getting older is getting wiser
well, that's what we hope.
But no one sees the heartfelt moments
with wich we have to cope.
But with a smile, a hug and beer
you manage well another year!

Your Dutch AFS friend Yvonne

Happy birthday Dick! Next year most of us will be 80. I don't send birthday wishes very often. But with the start of my eighty-years-to-be I intend to send a little birthday poem to every classmate celbrating another new year. So here is yours:
Let's share a glass of wine today
Your vineyard or a Dutch?
I wish you health and happiness
With a friendly hug and touch.

Dear Park, happy birthday and have a great day. Sharing sweet memories with you. Can you believe it’s 60 years ago since you and I were king and queen at the autumn balk ‘herfstvakantie’ at MASH? Hope your health is well and you’re having a good life. Your Dutch friend Yvonne

Brave sportlike Judy! You have suffered for many years. We met at reunions and I respected you for handling your health problems so well. You were an outstanding cheerleader at our MASH. It was a very new phenomenom for me. It must have been very hard for you to accept the fact not to be able to trust your body at all moments. Rest in peace and may your (grand)children enjoy many good memories and laughs you had together. Yvonne
